Invitation to be an Election
Observer Mission Delegate
Observer Mission Delegate
Dear friends of the people of El Salvador,
We would like to invite you to join the El Salvador Election Observer Mission for the presidential elections on Sunday February 3rd, 2019.
With a long history of fraud and corruption in the region, including the stealing of the recent elections in Honduras and the fragile situation in Nicaragua, our partners are inviting us to observe this important election. We are joining forces with sister organizations like the Center of International Solidarity CIS, the Committee in Solidarity CISPES, Sister Cities to have a strong international, representative mission with as many participants as possible.
We will be arriving in El Salvador January 29th and returning on February 5th, 2019.
The itinerary will include a day to receive certification training as official observers by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE). We will also visit communities in Chalatenango and La Libertad to learn about organizing work with youth and women, visit their vegetable garden and meet with community leaders continuing their education with SHARE’s scholarship program. We will learn about the national effort to stop the privatization of water and to pass legislation that declares water as a human rights. Last but not least, we will meet with partner organizations advocating for human rights, justice and reparations for the massacres of El Mozote, the case of San Romero and other cases.
We invite you to follow El Salvador before, during and after the elections. The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) is in conservative hands and our friends want us to keep a close eye.
As in previous presidential elections, there is a chance of a second round of voting a moth after the first election. In anticipation of this, we want to have a second Mission ready to go in March 2019.
We invite your participation in the Election Mission by joining the delegation, by sponsoring a low-income delegate with a donation and or frequent flyer miles, and by promoting this organizing work.
Pleas express your interest at www.share-elsalvador.org.
We thank you for your faithful support to the people of El Salvador.
From all of us at SHARE,
El Salvador Field Director
