Remembering the Remarkable Lives of the Four U.S. Churchwomen
On the 27 th Anniversary of Their Deaths
On Nov. 14, 2007, the U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 381, sponsored by Sen. Feingold (D-WI) to complement House Resolution 458, sponsored by Representative James McGovern (D-MA). These resolutions commemorate the lives and work of the four churchwomen – Maryknoll Sisters Maura Clarke and Ita Ford, Ursuline Sister Dorothy Kazel, and lay missionary Jean Donovan—and have been embraced by the family members of the four women, the Maryknoll Sisters, the Ursuline Sisters, and the U.S. Catholic Conference.
Please contact Sen. Feingold and Rep. McGovern's offices to thank them for their service in memory of the Four U.S. Churchwomen even if you are not a constituent! Phone calls of support for resolutions like these encourage Members to make the time for similar actions in the future. You can contact them by calling the Congressional Switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
