Legislative and Municipal Elections Observation
SHARE invites you to join us in El Salvador March 6-13, 2012 to observe the 2012 Legislative and Municipal Elections.
This is your opportunity to support Salvadorans’ right to democracy!
As Salvadoran civil society works towards the consolidation of democracy and implementation of electoral reforms for a truly transparent and participatory process, international election observers promote free and fair elections in a country with a long history of electoral fraud.
Delegates will serve as international election observers to ensure free and fair participation in voting and reporting of the election results, and will meet with members of SHARE partner communities who advocate for social and economic justice through women’s empowerment, leadership development and citizen participation.
On the delegation we will:
- Meet with political analysts to learn about the economic, social and political reality of El Salvador
- Meet with government officials and political party representatives
- Be trained and serve as international election observers
- Visit SHARE counterparts working towards sustainable development
- Visit historical sites and learn about recent Salvadoran history and how it affects current reality
Cost: $950 plus airfare (some need based scholarships available)
