Environmental conditions and economic crisis have contributed to rising prices of food and crop destruction that has created a food crisis in countries like El Salvador.  Neo-liberal economic policies have made Salvadoran’s incredibly vulnerable to global crises, especially since 85% of food consumed in El Salvador is imported.
