Women’s Issues

Women make up over half of the population of El Salvador, yet the inequality among women and men is immense.  Sexism, violence against women, economic conditions, and impunity make life for women in El Salvador difficult and dangerous.  In 2010, El Salvador had one of the highest feminicide rates in the world. Recent laws pushed forward by the women’s movement seek to improve the situation for women in El Salvador, but there is still a long way to go before gender equality is achieved.
