Message from the Lower Lempa Pastoral Team and the Hurricane Stan Victims
Thanking our Brothers and Sisters in Solidarity
Dear beloved Brothers and Sisters:
Receive our fraternal greetings, wishing that God is showering with blessings your daily labors.
We as the Pastoral Team of the Christian Based Communities of Bajo Lempa in the Usulután Department, and in the name of all of the victims of the recent flood, direct this letter of thanks to you.
We want to thank the Santiago de Maria Diocese with all of its parishes and groups, all of the religious and altruistic groups, and all the friends and people who joined in solidarity during this emergency. For all of us, your love and solidarity was a light in the middle of all of the darkness. It is clear the presence of God’s love and the love that lies in the hearts of humankind. It is also clear that one’s actions towards others makes more real the Reign of God.
We have also seen how the poor of all sexes and ages in our area and in various parts of the country have offered help for the victims with open hearts. They brought food to people in the shelters and to those who stayed to take care of the animals or their goods in the flooded streets. They looked for and brought clothes, provisions and medicines. They thought not only in the body, but in the spirit, and brought clowns to cheer up boys and girls, and adults after this trauma.
Although we would like to express our gratitude to each one of you in person, for right now this humble letter will have to carry our message. We only ask God to give both you and us the strength to continue struggling for the Reign of God to benefit the poorest of our communities and to create better living conditions for them.
Sincerely,
Your Brothers and Sisters in Christ, the members of the Pastoral Team
Pedro, Noemi, Pilar, Hortensia, Dominic, Valentina, Elena, y Fran
