Who is invited?
The SHARE Foundation is inviting partners CONFRAS, Women of Chalatenango of the CCR and Fruit Tree Planting Foundation FTPF to participate in this unique delegation to El Salvador to learn and actively participate about climate change and alternative solutions to care for Madre Tierra.
SHARE has a partnership with FTPF.org and the Confederation of cooperatives of the agrarian reform CONFRAS to plant fruit trees.
Over the last 12 years we have planted over 60,000 fruit trees.The women of Chalatenango are members of the CCR/CRIPDES and SHARE have worked with them for over 3 decades in community development.

- Learning from partners about the devastation of the environment in El Salvador, the dry corridor that is converting El Salvador into a desert and becoming a push factor for immigration, displacement of people by expropriation of lands by the government, and political situation do to the Estado de Excepcion. Expropriation of lands, habeas corpus of prisoners under the Estado de Excepcion.
- Participation in a Green Fair organized by the women of Chalatenango to educate children and the community about the risks of eating unhealthy food and alternatives to produce their own food.
- Planting fruit trees with the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation and the cooperatives of CONFRAS.
What is the Cost?
$1,185 plus airfare. This includes all your expenses in the country: housing, food, translation, in-country transportation, partner honoraria, and organization of events.

When do I pay?
- $100 NON REFUNDABLE deposit is due on or before May 15, 2024

What airport do I fly to?
Arrive in El Salvador’s Monsignor Oscar Romero Airport (SAL) on June 29th and depart on July 8th
Where will we stay?
We will stay in a humble guest house in San Salvador. We will have simple, comfortable rooms with two beds per room. Individual rooms are available with a small extra fee. Meals are simple and healthy and we will have access to purified water at all times and wifi internet access.
Who should come on this delegation?
We encourage a diverse group of people to join us on this delegation including young and old, women and men, and people of color. Women religious and other religious leaders, elected officials and their staff, journalists, people working in the media and religious leaders are encouraged to join. Photographers and videographers are welcome. Artists, musicians, teachers, and journalists are welcome. People working with justice issues such as immigration, women’s rights, and ending violence are valuable members, as well as environmentalists, economists, agriculturalists, and mining professionals. Anyone who wants to help advance democracy and peace and justice.
Should I go if I have mobility restrictions?
Yes, we will accommodate you as much as possible.
Are there concerns about safety?
El Salvador has been among the most violent countries in the region. Our itinerary is developed in close collaboration with SHARE partners in El Salvador who are aware of the risks and mindful to reduce them in every possible way. This delegation is one of accompaniment, and we encourage participants to consider both the risks and the rewards of this form of activism.
What are the expectations for preparation and follow-up for this trip?
Delegates are expected to join in monthly zooms every second Wednesday of the month at 4 pm PST ( March, April, May, June) to study and advance the preparation for the trip.
Upon your return home, we hope you will find many ways to share your experience and all that you’ve learned with your community and that you will actively engage with your members of congress. We will support you with ideas and resources for action and advocacy. Those with particular skills will be asked to organize presentations, blog, write, and contact the media. We hope to organize a visit by Salvadoran partners to the US and will invite delegates to host them for a visit to your city.
