Peter Avery 
​Photography Project Coordinator

Peter Avery was born and raised in Lima, Peru, in a bilingual and bicultural family. At the age of 16, he developed a deep passion for photography and has since traveled extensively, documenting both his professional work and personal experiences around the world.
 
After earning a degree in Industrial Engineering, Peter joined Walt Disney Productions as an Imagineer, working in Orlando, Florida, and Tokyo, Japan. He has also lived in New York City, Tokyo, Mexico City, and numerous cities throughout the United States. His career has focused on global business development across Asia and Latin America, with significant experience in the technology, marketing, and nonprofit sectors, including projects in Nicaragua, Oakland, Illinois, and New York. Peter also holds an MBA in Global Marketing Management and is proficient in Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese.
 
As a photographer, Peter is drawn to the power of documentary photography to foster understanding and inspire social change. He currently leads SHARE's Ojos del Agua (Eyes of Water) project, which seeks to educate Honduran youth in photographic storytelling while documenting the human impact of water contamination and resource conflicts. The project's objective is to empower communities in the Tocoa region to tell their own stories through compelling visual narratives. The initiative will culminate in a multifaceted exhibition and presentation in June 2027 highlighting Honduras's water conflict and the resilience of the affected communities.
 
Peter currently resides in Peoria, Illinois, with his wife, Debra Avery, a Presbyterian pastor.
