El Salvador + Honduras solidarity fundraiser at 100 mile Bike race

Hi friends,

I’m biking a 100-mile race in Alaska in solidarity with three projects in El Salvador and Honduras. The 100-mile bike race will fundraise for the three amazing projects listed below that vary from expanding accessibility to fresh ocean water, cancer prevention grassroots efforts, and afterschool musical programming in El Salvador and Honduras. Donations will go directly to the SHARE foundation, which will distribute funds to the initiatives listed below.

You can donate here. For all my past delegates reading this, I am attaching a sample email you can copy and paste and readapt to share this fundraiser with people you know. THANK YOU! (:

SHARE Foundation is a fantastic nonprofit with 40+ years of solidarity work in Central America. I’ve joined their delegations, completely transforming my relationship with Central America and rematriation. The three projects are listed in more detail below.
  1. Designing, building, and managing a clean water project that will feed five communities in San Jose Las Flores in El Salvador. This project will also provide clean, fresh water to the expansion of an organic farming project led by the village's local women invested in seeding and growing indigenous veggies and herbs.
  2. Pro Vida in El Salvador, a nonprofit dedicated to providing low-cost and free cancer prevention care to some of the area's poorest communities, also known as “cantons”. Pro Vida has recently faced defunding of government funds due to critical public remarks on Bukeles growing military state. Pro Vida is unique as it also embraces and invests education and time into cultivating local community leadership.
  3. After-school guitar programming in Macuelizo, Honduras. Last year with the help of many SHARE foundations fundraised and gifted a guitar to 2 students across 12 schools in Macelizo, Honduras, under the historic leadership of new Partido Libre mayor: Suyapa Jaqueline Trejo. We want to expand the positive impact on more schools and students with guitars!

I am thrilled and excited to do this 100-mile bike race and need YOUR solidarity in El Salvador and Honduras, so please donate here: https://share-elsalvador.networkforgood.com/projects/54380-share-el-salvador-general-campaign

Bless,
Gabriela Cartagena

SHARE Foundation is a fantastic nonprofit with 40+ years of solidarity work in Central America. The SHARE ambassador doing the 100-mile race in Alaska is a US-born Salvadoran Honduran; her parents immigrated to the U.S. in the early 90s as refugees from the El Salvadoran war. The delegations transformed her political relationship with El Salvador and Honduras. We are thrilled and excited to see her dedicate her 100-mile bike race to the resistance that needs YOUR solidarity in El Salvador and Honduras, so please donate here: https://share-elsalvador.networkforgood.com/projects/54380-share-el-salvador-general-campaign
